Steps to know Jesus

You can begin a life-changing relationship with God today

Step 1

THE FALL OF MAN

Adam and Eve, the first human beings created by God, had a relationship with God and communicated with Him. However, they sinned against God in the garden of Eden by eating the fruit of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which God had expressly told them not to. This was the first sin ever committed by mankind, and has been a precedent for the various sins we see today; lying, envy, adultery, murder and other acts stemming from this one disobedience. Sin altered our very nature and each one of us carries a sinful nature from birth. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. This means that we are all guilty of sinning and we all fall short of God’s standard. No exceptions. We were separated from knowing God and sin is the cause.

Step 2

OUR PROBLEM

As a result, there is a void in our hearts where God should be. We humans, by design, have a desire to relate with God and to know Him. Often times, we attempt to fill this void in our hearts and lives with material things, relationships, good deeds, religion or our very own ambitions. Unfortunately, none of these things are effective. We have, and always will, fall short using these tactics. Our need is a spiritual need, and we can not mend it ourselves because our very nature causes us to be separated from God. Worse yet, sin brings terrible consequences that will be felt not only now, but suffered for eternity. Despite all of this, God still loved us. He still wanted to have a relationship with us. He had a plan to rescue us.

Step 3

GOD’S PLAN

God's plans to restore a relationship with us were expressed so passionately through the gift of His only Son at The Cross. Being a just and holy God, He could not simply ignore the need for sin to be punished. Sin had to be dealt with. Therefore, He sent down His only Son Jesus Christ to earth--the very express image of God Himself--to take the punishment of sin upon Himself. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that,” For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus Christ died as our payment for sin, even though He had no sin. In doing so, He reconciled us to God and satisfied God’s requirement for sin to be punished. At the Cross, the barrier between man and God was torn in two. Through His death, you can be forgiven of your sins. What's more, three days after His crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, and those that believe in Him are likewise raised up from the death of our past life into a new life.

Step 4

SAVED BY GRACE

What if you could live a new life enriched by the experience of God's gift to us? The good news is that you can! God invites you to experience an unfailing, unconditional, supernatural love; a relationship with the One who made you and wants to give you peace, hope and abundant life. It is not something that you need to strive towards with your own efforts. It is a gift from God, and all you need to do is believe, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” as written in Ephesians 2:8-9. All of this was done because God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.

Step 5

WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECEIVE GOD’S FORGIVENESS?

Take this moment to think about what you've read. If you would like to receive God's forgiveness and eternal life you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Trust that Jesus is God's only Son, the only way back to God and that Jesus has paid for the forgiveness of your sins. When you receive Him, He wants to direct and guide your life, which means you must yield to Him. We encourage you to pray to God along these lines:

PRAY NOW

Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you in thought, word and deed and that I am deserving of punishment. Forgive me for all my sins and cleanse me. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Come into my heart now and give me eternal life. From now on I want to follow You and trust in You as my Lord and Savior. Have you prayed the prayer above in faith? If so, please fill out the form below.
